About this work
The theater curtain of the Schouwburg: a beehive on a pedestal with the coat of arms of Amsterdam, Mercury on the left, a river god (likely the Amstel) on the right. In the clouds, the radiant Apollo, with festoons of attributes of the arts above and on the sides. Part of a series of fourteen plates of the new Schouwburg in Amsterdam, 1775.
