About this work
Satirical print on the Orangists in Rotterdam, upon the arrival of a commission from the States of Holland to investigate the riot of 3 April 1784. Kaat Mossel, Ruige Keet, Petrus Hofstede, and other Orangists with donkey ears try to raise the princely kite with the yoke of tyranny. On the left, the Dutch Maiden and Lion in the Dutch Garden decorated with the coats of arms of Zeeland, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Delft, and Leiden. On the sheet below the print, an explanation of the scene in rhyming verse in two columns.
