About this work
Caricature on the Aristocracy, 1795. A French soldier takes three men (preachers?) their wigs and walks with them to a door. A spaniel drags a wig across the ground. The men complain that now their respectability has been taken from them. Through the doorway, a view of dancing around the liberty tree. See also pendant.
