About this work

Allegory on the provisional peace reached in London between France and the coalition on 1 October 1801. On the altar of peace the French and British Virgins shake hands, with a palm branch. On the altar the names 'Bonaparte, George, Frederik'. In the clouds floats Peace. The oval representation surrounded by coats of arms, at the top the Prussian eagle. At the bottom armorial trophies. On the pedestal a six-line poem.
