About this work

Allegory on the peace concluded at Amiens on 27 March 1802, between the Batavian Republic and France and Great Britain. Above the calligraphic title stand Peace and Constancy (with a portrait of Napoleon). Above this group flies Fame with a palm branch and the coats of arms of the French Republic and Great Britain. At the bottom Strength defeats Deceit and Virtue points Wealth and Science towards Peace. On the sides the consequences of the peace. On the left the flourishing of trade and agriculture, on the right the herring fishery. The print comes with an explanation.
