About this work

An old man enthroned on a wall with a scepter with an eye in his hand, which symbolizes vigilance in state governance, is offered a crown. On the left a painting showing the library of the Ptolemies. On the right in the background a soldier climbs into the house of Cleopatra on the orders of Octavius. In the frame of the cartouche medallions with portraits of Ptolemy and Seleucus.
