About this work

History at a monument showing the map of Etruria and a medal with the portrait of Pythagoras. In the background Etruscan ruins. Left in the foreground a Roman receiving various art treasures from the Virgin of Etruria. Right in the foreground putti holding in their hands medallions showing the portraits of two Etruscan war heroes: Pelopidas and Epaminondas. In the frame of the cartouche a medallion with a Janus head.
