About this work

A Jewish high priest in conversation with an angel, with burning flame on his head as symbol for religious zeal. Next to them a crowned woman pointing with her scepter at the Tables of the Law. In the foreground putti holding sheets of paper on which the different names of the tribes of Israel. In the background the tent camp of the Israelites, with the bronze serpent, and Mount Sinai. In the frame of the cartouche medallions with biblical scenes.
