About this work

Allegory on the death of Prince William V on 9 April 1806. The prince is taken up by angels, from heaven an angel descends with a trumpet and palm branch. In heaven the All-Seeing Eye. Opposite the prince an angel with a sheet bearing an inscription on the prince's virtue. In the foreground Slander, Envy, Falsehood and Death are driven to hell with lightning bolts.
