About this work

Allegory on the birth of Willem Hendrik, Hereditary Prince of Brandenburg, in 1649. In a cradle, the prince lies surrounded by, among others, Juno, Minerva, and Abundance. In the sky, Fame blows a trumpet and small angels carry symbols of the newborn's future power. In the landscape in the background lies the Swanenburg, the Court of Cleves. In the lower margin, a Dutch verse in four lines.
