About this work

The Great Chain with the cross of the Royal Order of Holland, later called the Order of Union. Decoration instituted by King Louis Napoleon, first in 1806. This variant of the ornament with a swimming or emerging lion dates from 14 February 1807. Full size. In this state, the embroidered star is added centrally, and below separately the front and back of the grand cross. The subtitle mentions the names of the makers of the order insignia, the Amsterdam jewellers' firm Ciovino & Gebr. Truffino.
