About this work

Landscape with a bird's-eye view of the course of the Scheldt river to the city of Antwerp. In the foreground, the British fleet sails in August 1809 past Fort Bath on the Scheldt towards Antwerp; halfway between Fort Lillo and Liefkenshoek a chain is stretched across the river, behind the chain lies the French fleet. In the distance the city of Antwerp, in front of which eight French ships are lying. Title and inscriptions in Dutch. The print is accompanied by an explanation.
