About this work
The bombardment of Algiers in the night of 26-27 August 1816 by the combined Anglo-Dutch fleet, under the command of Lord Exmouth and Jonkheer van Capellen. The allied fleet in the foreground, behind it flames and smoke from the burning ships of the pirates and the Algerian coast. The print is accompanied by a separate explanation with the names of some Dutchmen who were present at the bombardment.
