About this work

A cart with four Jesuits is being taken across the border to France by gendarmes. Behind the border, a row of clerics waits. Below the image a song in seven stanzas. Satire on the expulsion and deportation of the Jesuits across the Belgian borders in October and November 1828, after they had crossed without permission, having fled from France.
