Satirical print on the fraud with a false balance scale by the firm C. de Bruyn & Zonen, 1834. The firm owned the first steam sugar refinery on the Lijnbaansgracht in Amsterdam. On 8 January 1834, they were caught using a balance with an extended arm. Centrally, the false balance hangs from the steam clouds emanating from the factory 'De Vijf Gebroeders', on which crates of sugar are being weighed. On the right, C. de Bruyn with his two sons.
