View of the ruins on the Steenschuur, a canal extending from the Rapenburg, in Leiden, after the explosion of the gunpowder ship on 12 January 1807. In the foreground, a victim is being carried away. At the bottom, titles in Dutch and French separated by a vignette of a weeping child with the coat of arms of Leiden. See also the pendant.
