About this work

Historical costumed procession by the students of Leiden University on 8 February 1840, celebrating the 265th anniversary of the university. The subject of the historical procession and masquerade is the entry of Duke John of Bavaria into Leiden on 18 August 1420. Imaginary representation of Leiden in 1420 with the procession winding over a city square. Within a frame with festoons, coats of arms and Minerva at the top.
