About this work

Commemorative plaque of the capture of Den Briel on 1 April 1572 for the celebration of 300 years of Dutch freedom 1572-1872. Centrally the ramming of the gate by the Watergeuzen under Lumey. On the left a Watergeus, on the right a nobleman. At the top portraits of William of Orange and Willem Bloys van Treslong. At the bottom three small scenes with centrally the Headstake beating on the gate of Den Briel. The print includes a separate explanation.
