About this work

Satirical print on the dismissal of Governor-General Charles Ferdinand Pahud de Mortanges on 2 September 1861. Mortanges being rowed in a skiff by a sailor, on the right the personification of Batavia, on the left the sinking ship 'Straat van Sunda'. Plate published in the weekly De Nederlandsche Spectator, no. 45, 9 November 1861.
