About this work

The Catholic former mayors Quirijn Dirksz. Talesius and Lambert Jacobszoon, together with ten other persons, hanged by angry Haarlem soldiers on 27 May 1573 as revenge. On the way to the gallows, Talesius is comforted by his wife and daughter.
