About this work

The launching of the balloon of the Frenchman Jean-Pierre Blanchard in the Paleistuin at Paleis Noordeinde in The Hague on 12 July 1785, the balloon landed near the village of Zevenhuizen. The balloon is being prepared within a fence around which public has gathered. First launch of a manned balloon in the Netherlands.
