About this work
Allegory of the arrival of Prince William IV in The Hague on 29 April 1747, and his election as stadtholder of Holland. Representation in an arch with Liberty and the Dutch Maiden seated in the foreground. Hanging from the arch are medallions with a portrait of the Prince and four representations of the celebration in other parts of the country. In the sky Fame blows her trumpet with a pennant.
