The solemn ball of the European sovereigns, 1742. Ball given by the Elector of Bavaria in a candlelit ballroom where Archduchess Maria Theresa dances with King Frederick of Prussia at the center. Theodor von Neuhoff, the King of Corsica, dances along in a harlequin costume. Other sovereigns watch. Allegory on the War of the Austrian Succession. Design for a print.
