About this work
Shah Suleiman (1666–1694) depicted to the waist, turned half to the right, with a sword in his right hand and his left hand resting on a dagger tucked into his belt. Leaf 47 in the 'Witsen Album', containing 49 Indian miniatures of rulers. A piece of paper with the name in Persian is pasted above the portrait. Below the portrait, a piece of paper bears the name of Shah Abbas II in Portuguese, though the portrait depicts Shah Suleiman.
