About this work

Peasant festivities were a common occurrence in the Netherlands in the 17th century, especially in rural areas. These events were characterized by lively music, food, and dancing. Dance was central to thesegatherings, with folk dances accompanied by the sound of fiddles, hurdy-gurdies and bag pipes. These festivities provided an important outlet for socializing and entertainment for the rural population.
