About this work
A soldier, full-length, seen from the back, holding a spear (lance) upright in his right hand. This is the third action for bringing the spear upright to the ground. Design for plate 7 in the instructions for handling the spear in the Wapenhandelinghe by J. de Gheyn (1607). Military affairs around 1600. Design for a print.
