Interior of a Bookshop

Interior of a presumed Haarlem book and art shop. Behind the counter on the left the shopkeeper with a boy next to her sewing a book at a sewing frame. Behind them shelves with supplies of unbound paper on the two upper shelves. Below stand bound or stitched books, while on the fourth shelf from the top presumably bound books are placed with the fore-edge and thus the headbands facing us. In front against the counter stand, from left to right, a book in a press, a mallet stone with a mallet on it and an empty press. Behind the counter on the right the shopkeeper with a customer. In the cabinet against the back wall lie packages of unbound books (in sheets) or blank paper and on the top shelf stand among others globes. On the right stand two customers with (grey?)hounds looking at the artworks on the wall, presumably paintings, prints and/or drawings.
