About this work
The demoness Surpanakha fell in love with Lakshmana. Two consecutive scenes are shown here. The left side of the painting depicts Surpanakha trying to seduce Lakshmana. On the right, one sees Lakshmana cutting off the nose and the ears of the demoness. Scene from the Ramayana.
