About this work
The demon Ghatotkacha, son of the Mahabharata-hero Bhima, sits in a palace. He is accompanied by two female figures, one of them possibly his mother Hidimba. Opposite him, two envoys point to their cut-off noses. The scene belongs to a set illustrating the marriage of Abhimanyu and Vatsala.
