About this work

Two dogs, a lapdog at the top and an Irish dog resembling a sheepdog at the bottom. Numbered in the top right: 5. Part of the first album with drawings of quadrupeds. First of twelve albums with drawings of animals, birds and plants known around 1600, made on commission of Emperor Rudolf II. With explanations in Dutch, Latin and French.
