About this work
Beans (probably garden beans), an artichoke and the flower and fruit of the lantern plant (golden berry or Cape gooseberry). Also a caterpillar at the top. Numbered 157 in the upper right. With names in various languages. Part of the second album of drawings of flowers and plants. Ninth of twelve albums of drawings of animals, birds and plants known around 1600, made on commission of Emperor Rudolf II. With commentary in Dutch, Latin and French.
