Naval Battle of Vigo Bay, 23 October 1702. Episode from the War of the Spanish Succession

The Anglo-Dutch fleet overcomes the Spanish silver fleet in the bay near the Spanish city of Vigo. The Spanish silver fleet, recently returned from the West Indies under French convoy, was sheltered in the bay. Nevertheless, 4,000 men managed to land. With the subsequent destruction of the ships, most of the valuable cargo sank to the bottom of the bay. A tenth was captured. The image is topographically inaccurate.
