About this work
Still life with fruits and vegetables with Christ and the Emmaus disciples in the background. In the foreground of a kitchen various kinds of vegetables (asparagus, broad beans, peas, carrots, artichokes, cucumbers, beets, a pumpkin, green cabbages, onions and turnips) and fruit (apples, cherries, currants, apricots, pears, berries, raspberries and grapes) are displayed in baskets. In the kitchen two maids are at work. Behind them, through drawn curtains, the biblical scene is visible.
