About this work

Kitchen interior with the parable of the rich man and poor Lazarus. In a kitchen, two maids prepare a feast. On the left, one maid skewers a piece of meat on a spit, the other holds a copper kettle in one hand and a dead goose in the other. Displayed are pieces of meat, vegetables (cabbages, turnips, and carrots), poultry, a dead hare, and fish. Between the food, a dog barks at a cat. On the right, a table with pies, cheese, bread, silver cups, and drinking vessels. Against the back wall, jugs hang on a shelf; on the shelf stand plates and candlesticks. On the right in the background, the rich man with his family at a banquet; at the door, Lazarus sits on the floor.
