About this work

The marriage trap, an allegory on marriage. Couples walk arm-in-arm into a large trap or net. In the middle sits Cupid. Bottom left putti, including a black putto, dance to the music of a satyr. Around the trap men and women walk, on the right Death waves a billhook.
