Italian 19th-Century Gilded and Carved Sansovino Frame

An Italian 19th-century carved and gilded Sansovino frame. In the pediment sits a head of a putto. Around it sits a Sansovino motif. The rules consist of winged caryatids, below them garlands. The bottom rule has Sansovino curls with garlands and a flower in the center. The inner edge has a half-chain motif. The construction of the front is as follows: the inner edge is mitered and the other parts are cold against the inner edge. The sole is renewed and has a lip joint. There are indications for a hanging eye on the top rule and a horizontal hanging in one direction. The condition is moderate; it is full of holes larger than holes from woodworm. On the back, around the rebate, there are paper remnants.
