About this work
According to Carl Burckhardt's letters, the Italian model for the Amor figure was named Battista. The work was also called "Roman Head" due to its place of origin. The sculpture is part of the unfinished life-size sculptural group "Zeus and Eros," in which Eros, in an adoring posture facing the seated Zeus, kneels before him.
