About this work
Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — In the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, a digital still camera has been mounted in the External Tank (ET) umbilical well on the aft end of Space Shuttle Discovery. The camera is being used to obtain and downlink high-resolution images of the disconnect point on the ET following ET separation from the orbiter after launch. The Kodak camera will record 24 images, at one frame per 1.5 seconds, on a flash memory card.
