About this work
Porcelain flowerpot, painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze red, green, black and gold. On the outer wall three scalloped cartouches with two cranes near a pine tree, a phoenix above a tree and one with a shishi (lion-dog) near a peony. Around the cartouches leaf scrolls interrupted by two opposing panels from the rim and the foot with lotus scrolls and a half flower rosette. Around the foot a band with petal-shaped panels with flower branches; on the outer rim a band with lotus scrolls. The inner rim with a band with half flower rosettes. A hole in the bottom. The pot has been broken, restored with three staples. Imari.
