About this work

Plate of porcelain, painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze red and gold. On the flat a flower vase with a chilong (hornless dragon) on it and on both sides of the vase also a chilong. The wall and rim are divided into six compartments containing alternately a landscape with a chicken and a rooster in an enclosed garden at a pavilion and flower vines against a blue background. The back with a band interrupted by a cartouche with flower rosettes and plants; around the band three flower branches (peony, prunus, chrysanthemum). On the underside a peony branch in a circle. The plate is set in a metal mount. The underside with prongs. Imari.
