About this work

This plate features the love story of Xue Dingshan and Fan Lihua. Xue was a general of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Fan the daughter of an enemy general, Xiliang. They met on the battlefield and fell in love. A series of misunderstandings led them to marry and divorce twice; however, in the end they lived a long and happy life.
