About this work

Deep plate of porcelain with a lobed rim, painted in underglaze blue. On the flat surface in a medallion a woman (long-lipped) on a horse in an enclosed garden. Opposite stands a woman, her hand raised in a greeting gesture. Behind her a servant with a parasol. Above them fly three birds. The wall and rim with eight lobed compartments with alternating two women in an enclosed garden or flowering plants beside a rock. Between the cartouches a swastika pattern and bows. The outer rim with six flower scrolls. The outer wall with ruyi motifs separated by vertical stripes. Marked on the underside with the six-character mark of Emperor Kangxi in a double circle. A crack and some chips in the rim. Blue and white.
