About this work
Porcelain plate with raised wall and sloping rim, painted in underglaze blue. On the flat surface antiquities (vases, peacock feathers, books, scrolls, incense burner) and wondrous objects such as a statue of a dragon on a cushion and a parrot on a stand; the rim with lacework alternating with lobed cartouches containing a dragon in white cut out against a blue background; on the reverse precious stones (ruby, pearl, musical stone), symbols of good fortune (shell) and an attribute of the Eight Immortals (castanets). Marked on the underside with a flowering branch in a double circle. Three chips in the rim. Blue and white.
