About this work

Porcelain dish, painted on the glaze in blue, red, black and gold. On the flat of the dish the coat of arms of the Saunders family with three elephants; the crest is also an elephant surrounded by acanthus leaves. On the wall a European decorative band in Louis XIV style with birds and napkin work in cartouches. Old label on the underside with 'Saunders (governor of Madras)'. Coat of arms porcelain with enamel colors.
