About this work

Porcelain cup, painted on the glaze in blue, red, black and gold. On the wall the coat of arms of the Saunders family with three elephants; the crest is also an elephant surrounded by acanthus leaves. Around it a European decorative band in Louis XIV style with birds and napkin work in cartouches. Old label on the underside with 'Saunders (governor of Madras)'. A crack in the wall of the cup. Coat of arms porcelain with enamel colors.
