Saucer with a mythological image based on the element Fire

Porcelain dish, painted on the glaze in blue, red, pink, green, yellow, black, and gold. On the front, an allegorical representation of the element Fire with various gods, including Jupiter, Vulcanus, Venus, and several Cupids in a landscape near a building; Venus sits in a chariot on a cloud. The representation is based on a print by Antoine Herisset (1685–1769) after a painting by Francesco Albani (1578–1669). The representation is from a series of four; the other elements are Water, Air, and Earth. On the underside, an old label reads 'After painting by Francesco Albani. British Museum'.
