Haori for a woman with an all-over decoration depicting an ox-cart and two boxes for the shell game, in a nocturnal landscape with flowers, water, rocks, and pine tree motifs; the lining features a crowing rooster at dawn against a red background; referring to the farewell at the border post of Osaka, where lovers used to secretly meet. The Main Pillow Book of Sei Shonagon: 'There may be some who are deceived by the crowing of the rooster that falsely breaks the silence of the night, but that deception will not prevail at the Border Post of Osaka, where lovers have their rendezvous.'
