About this work

The subject of this jacket is the famous commander Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Following a long period of division, he unified Japan at the end of the 16th century. Depicted here is a scene from his life in which generals counsel the young Hideyoshi (upper right) to be patient and not act recklessly.
