About this work
Formal kimono for a boy for his first visit to a Shinto shrine (miyamairi kimono), decorated with two carp jumping out of stylized waves, with rocks, bamboo and stylized clouds. Symbol of (academic) striving and success. Black silk with painted yuzen decoration in blue, white and various shades of grey, green and orange, with embroidered detailing and gold foil. Lining of white silk. Five family crests (mon) of stars.
