About this work

Formal kimono for a boy for his first visit to a Shinto shrine (miyamairi kimono), decorated with an eagle standing on a rocky coast with wings spread, with a stylized wild sea and clouds. Black silk with painted yuzen decoration in blue, white, grey, green and orange, with detailing in silver and gold foil. Lining of cream silk. Five family crests (mon) of pine (matsu).
